Assuncao Brothers was founded in the spring of 1958 by Diamantino Assuncao, and Manuel Assuncao. The business was started in Colonia, NJ with a pickup truck, and a tremendous amount of hard work. The business started out by installing foundations for homes, and all facets of masonry work. By the mid 1960’s, Assuncao Brothers Inc. became a general contractor, was bidding public work, and building several road reconstruction projects.

In the late 1970’s, Martin Assuncao, (son of Diamantino Assuncao) began working on weekends while attending school, and during the summer months as well. As time went on, Martin became more and more familiar with the business. By the age of 17, Martin became a foreman in the summer months, and learned many aspects of running the business.

In 1994 Martin Assuncao purchased the shares of Manuel Assuncao, and became President of the corporation. At this point in time, Assuncao Brothers inc. was performing predominantly concrete work as a subcontractor, as well as a minimal amount of General contracting. By the early 2000’s, Assuncao Brothers inc. began to bid public work, as well as subcontracting on larger NJDOT projects, as well as NJTPK authority, NJ Transit, Port Authority etc.
